My 5th year at Girls Camp was so much fun! This year we had a new venue up in the Foothills, courtesy of our new camp director and her very generous family. Our theme was "I Wanna Be Like You!" It was based off the Young Woman theme, "Be Thou an Example of the Believers"(1 Timothy 4:12) and tied in with The Jungle Book and other Disney Movies (Lion King and Peter Pan). Can I just say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE camp!
There was a hike to a beautiful waterfall on Wednesday. Thursday we went to Lake Clementine for many of the girls first lessons in water skiing. Thursday night we did Who What Where skits. The "Who" were characters from Disney Movies. The "What" were things we do as Mormons (ie have the missionaries over for dinner, sing a hymn, give a talk, bottle fruit ...). The "Where" were well-known landmarks or countries. I thought it turned out super fun! OK, I admit, I organized it ...
Friday, we went to Lake Folsom for some tubing and some more skiing. It was a BLAST. Rog and I even got on the tube together. And yes, my muscles are still a little sore! That night was another phenomenal testimony meeting. I am always so amazed with the spirituality level of our young women. I love these girls.
On Saturday morning, President Carter gave a touching devotional. The main thing that stood out to me was his desire for the young women to develop their passions, their talents. I'm excited to see how the girls take on his challenge. They will do so much good in this world.
We then packed up camp and sent the girls on their way. Rog and I stayed behind to spend a few hours with Cyndi and her parents. Oh and if you were wondering how this was all possible that Rog and I were able to be at camp for two full days, especially with a nursing baby at home, well here's the secret: We flew out my incredibly wonderful parents and got a couple of hotel rooms nearby.
On Thursday, after dropping off Rog and me at the lake with the Truscott's truck, my parents took our Alero to Reno. My family moved to Reno when I was 6 weeks old and we lived there until after my sister Emily was born. They found the old house.

And fed my William his first french fries.

On Friday, they met up with some friends who had just moved from St. George to Sacramento. Sarah made friends with this little froggie.

Sarah LOVED having time at the hotel's pool.
William liked the breakfast (er snacks at breakfast) - I have to give kudos to Howard Johnson. I loved their omelets in the morning!
Saturday, the whole crew checked out of the hotel at 7 am and headed to camp. Poor Sarah got sick of the quick turns (of course we were late) and unloaded her breakfast just under a mile from Cyndi's place. Super sad. But a quick bath and change of clothes later, Sarah was as good as new. We enjoyed a relaxing swim in the pool after all the campers left.
Thanks again for such a wonderful camp Cyndi. You are AMAZING!
Aww, I miss you guys and I miss girls camp!
