Just got back from another AMAZING camp with the AMAZING Young Women of the San Francisco Stake. I'm 6 for 6 with attending girls camp since we moved to SF 6 years ago. I feel so blessed. It was super fun to go this year with Cyndi as the director. Even with a wedding in August she was able to pull off another super spiritual, crazy-cool camp.
This year I got to be Head Cookie. (AKA in charge of the kitchen staff.) I have to say, I need to write huge thank you notes for all the kitchen people from the previous 5 years. It's a lot of work! Thank goodness I was blessed by the most AWESOME kitchen crew EVER. I couldn't have done it without you Jessie, Ana & Angela or the plentiful number of extra helpers. We had super yummy food - lots of fruits and veggies. I was happy that my garlic alfredo sauce turned out for the pasta bar and it was fun to share my mom's homemade Cafe Rio tomatillo dressing when we had taco salad.
I loved having Rog come up on Friday afternoon. Roger has also been to Camp Lehi 6 times in 6 years - the first 2 years he stayed the entire time! Oh how I love my Rog. He is such an amazing support and help for me.
And where would we have been without Bishop Lesley and President Carter? They have also been 6 for 6. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Although doing the COPE course is always tons of work, it is sooooo worth it. Thanks to our huge crew of helpers! We had a blast seeing girls jump out of a tree, walk across a fallen log, zip down the zip line, do the trust fall, walk on cables over a stream ... Oh so much fun! I even took a turn on the zip line and did my crazy sporadic screaming. AAAAHH... AAAAHH... AAAAHH... AAAAHH... all the way down. Totally impressive. :) The courage the girls exerted on the course was phenomenal. Jumping out of a 50 foot tree isn't an easy feat. I'm so proud of our girls!
I love girls camp and my amazing girls. One of my favorite quotes for the week came from one of Misty's incredible devotionals. I don't remember who she was quoting, but the quote is "Heavenly Father loves his little girls." I think that sums up camp entirely.
My hat goes off to you. I have no idea how you do all that you do, but I aspire to be just like you. I would probably cry and say no if they called me to do Girl's Camp -- and here you are, 6 years.
ReplyDeleteAwww, I miss camp! Can you believe I never went when the copes course was up? So sad. Looks like you had a wonderful time!
