Mom?
Why do I feel so old when my two-year-old calls me Mom instead of Mommy? Who gave her permission to make the switch? I'm sad to say she is referring to me more as Mom than Mommy these days ... I guess hanging out for a week with "older" kids who call their Mommy "Mom" will do it. Will William call me Mom instead of Mommy when he starts talking? I hope not. I love being Mommy.

Oh What a Beautiful Morning!
Breakfast
Rog had fun in the Whole Foods bulk bin section this week. He found all kinds of treasures. Imagine an 8-year-old at the candy bulk bins with $20 to spend ... Because of his adventures, we had steel cut oatmeal for breakfast today. I don't recall ever having it growing up - I'm guessing the 45 minute cook-time would be the reason why - but I have to say it's yummy. Here's the recipe we tried today:
Ingredients
* 1 tablespoon butter
* 1 cup steel cut oats
* 3 cups boiling water
* 1/2 cup whole milk
* 1/4 cup low-fat buttermilk
* 1 tablespoon honey (or brown sugar)
* 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions
In a large saucepot, melt the butter and add the oats. Stir for 2 minutes to toast. Add the boiling water and reduce heat to a simmer. Keep at a low simmer for 25 minutes, without stirring. Combine the milk and buttermilk with the oatmeal. Stir gently to combine and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Spoon into a serving bowl and top with milk, honey, and cinnamon.
Rog is excited to try out another steel cut oat recipe next week!
Errands
After breakfast, we took Rog to work and stopped by the Department of Health to pick up Will's birth certificate. All done. Check.
Twirling
Sarah loved dancing and twirling with mommy during William's nap. Scripture Scouts has some fun songs to twirl to. Isn't twirling with your two-year-old the best? Sarah twirled long after mommy got dizzy and I was able to get her on camera.
Colored Eggs
Another "while Will slept" activity was getting out the egg-dying kit and coloring hard-boiled eggs just for the fun of it! Sarah LOVED it. She did a great job of coloring the eggs with the magic crayon. She's such an artist! However, we are working on her "be so soft" skills. Many of the eggs got cracked when she dropped them into the dye. I did think of getting out the camera while I was talking with Valinda on the phone ... Some pictures are better than none, right? Sarah also liked putting Cars stickers on the eggs after they dried.

When Will woke up, I fed him and burped him. Will then spit up all over mommy's jeans. I changed into capris, put Will in the Bjorn and put the doggie backpack (aka leash) on Sarah. We went on a fun walk in the sunshine.
Now it's nap time and both babies are asleep ... ah ... bliss ... it's a wonderful day!

Disneyland Wrapup
I promise this is the last post about our Disneyland trip. For the record, we took 567 photos. The ones I've posted thus far are merely my favorites. Here are the rest of the ones that made the cut.
Our first day - walking from our hotel to the park.

The excitement is just OOOOZZZING!

Rog on Main Street - we thought it was fitting to have him in front of the bank.

Sleeping Beauty's Castle. If you look closely, you can see Sarah and me smiling in front.

Sarah was a little disappointed there weren't any fish in the moat, but a few tickles got a smile from her.

In front of Main Street at the Disneyland Railroad entrance.

Will and me on the train. I LOVE Will's smile in this one.

Autopia.

Cafe Carnation. Sarah loved their saltine crackers and pickles. (Why I order a kids meal for her is beyond me!)

William as a Jedi-in-training:

More walking ... we did this a lot.

Sarah loved hanging out with her cousins - especially Abbey. I definitely recommend going with another family to Disneyland. It's so much fun!

Minnie Mouse - this time on Main Street.

And Last, but not least, Sarah's rendezvous with Mickey Mouse on Main Street. Sarah couldn't contain her excitement. She was screaming MOUSE! MOUSE! Mickey rose to the occasion and got down to her level.

Crawled after her.

And leaned in.

Sarah laid a big one right on his nose! My little kissing girl.

Sarah was beaming after the kiss. Ahhh youth!

Thanks for showing us a great time! "C" ya real soon!
