Dentist Appointments

Our beloved dentist is moving away so I decided William needed to see him before he leaves. Sarah went first to show William how it was done.

William was attentive.

Sarah was a pro - a model patient.

Ahhh. Clean teeth.

Will was up next. Dr. Blake commented on Will's active tongue.

Will wasn't too excited at the beginning ...

Daddy held his hand ...

But after receiving a toothbrush from a fellow dentist everything was much better.

A successful first visit for William. All teeth cleaned and we all left happy :)

It's Autumn Time

Cyndi has made fun of me on several occasions because I kept my "Spring" letters up all through the summer. But really, it NEVER felt like Summer in San Francisco so I never felt the urge to change the letters ... until now.

And while it really feels more like Summer than Autumn here in SF, I figured we'd skip right to the Autumn letters. Sarah was a big helper. It was her first time using Mod Podge. She painted it on like a pro.

Bye Bye Spring letters, Hello falling Autumn letters :)

NO no RAH rah.

This week I had to wake up William from his nap to pick up Sarah from preschool. Both times he stretched out on his bed and with his eyes still closed mumbled, "NO no RAH rah!" I really need to get a new video camera. It was so hilarious. He totally reminded me of a teenager that didn't want to get up to go to school.

Beautiful Crackers

Just in case Sarah asks you for "More Beautiful Crackers, Please!" You'll know what she's referring to. I think they're beautiful too.

Emergency Preparedness

OK, OK I'm repenting. It's been quite a while since I last posted and I guess it's about time to remedy that.

To celebrate 9/11, we went to an emergency preparedness fair in San Ramon. It was AWESOME. Talk about GOING.ALL.OUT. They had tons of emergency vehicles, service organizations and various activities in the church parking lot. Inside there were several demonstrations and classes (including Pet CPR) as well as more than 20 booths giving out information on how to make your home and family more prepared. We even got fingerprinting kits for Sarah and William.

We were worried that it would be boring for the kids, but we were wrong. Sarah got to color, get her face painted and take home a balloon.

William loved the fire trucks, police cars, robots and doggies.

And I loved the warm weather. Ahhh. I love the sunshine. Isn't it great to go to such a fun thing for CHURCH? We had a great time learning more about being prepared. I still can't believe they served complimentary tri-tip sandwiches. Yummy!

Hola Sarah!

Sarah has been asking to go to school for months and months now. She was so ready to go today. She couldn't wait for school to start. She was so cooperative and helpful this morning!

We enrolled Sarah in Hola Kids - a Spanish-immersion preschool. Her class is pretty small - I think they said 8 kids and most of them are girls. I love that they are planning to have "Tea Time" every day. It's really snack time, but the kids each get to take a turn folding napkins and serving their friends. Love it!

Even though I thought I was more than ready for her to have this experience, I found myself a little teary-eyed and apprehensive of sending her away for 3 hours in the afternoon twice a week. But we made it on time with a fully-packed backpack that has extra clothes, snacks and a sippy cup. Sarah picked out goldfish, a cheese stick and apples for her snack. She was so excited to choose her treats and fill her backpack. She even told me that she wasn't going to be "shy" today. I know, Sarah's not usually shy, but when everyone starts speaking Spanish to her she gets all nervous and yes, shy. I'm so glad she's going to be brave!

And without further ado, here are more first-day pictures. Here she is in front of her classroom.

Sarah put her backpack on the hook and marched right in to class.

After looking around and playing with a few toys she decided to sit with a few other kids who were working on an art project with the teacher. She LOVED that she got to use scissors and a glue stick. She looks so serious!

William had fun playing with the toys on the shelf. He could've stayed there all day I'm sure. But lucky for him it was nap time so he got to go with me.

Sarah wasn't excited for me to leave, but she was excited to be with new friends at school. After saying "Bye Bye," William and I headed out the door. We made a quick stop at the playground on the way out. William couldn't resist.

OK. I'll survive the next two hours. I can't wait to hear about Sarah's first day!

...

SUCCESS! Sarah LOVED school. She said she was brave not shy. She loved playing in the playground, singing songs and having snack time. She wanted to stay longer! She is excited to go back in two days.

I have to admit it was a little weird not having her around during nap time, but I think I can get used to it :)

Labor Day Laugh

Our Labor Day was mostly filled with work and chores, but we did escape to the park after dinner. Will and Sarah LOVED it. They couldn't get enough. Isn't their laughter hilarious? As you can probably tell, Roger was egging them on!

OK - so I just realized you can't hear the sound. But trust me, it's hilarious.

Are we ready?

Sarah's preschool had a "soft-opening" on Friday so the kids could get used to the classroom with their parents around. We had a blast getting to know Sarah's teacher and classmates.

Sarah LOVED playing in the kitchen.

And dressing up.

There were also tons of crafts and PAINTINGS! Sarah was in heaven.

William found the toy train set and it was so so so fun to hear him say "chugga chugga choo-choo" over and over again as he made himself dizzy going around and around in a circle with the train on the tracks.

We are excited for Tuesday. Hooray for school!

Back to the Beach

Well, the sun is keeping on my good side. We enjoyed a leisurely 80-degree morning at the beach. Not too hot with a light breeze. And a lot less people than last time. No one got lost. It was perfect.

Let summer reign in San Francisco!
