Happy Birthday Cyndi!

We celebrated Cyndi's birthday by going to Fentons for the first time. We did a "create your own" jumbo ice cream dish. And boy was it good. We had vanilla, cookies and cream, heath bar, and chocolate peanut butter crunch ice creams and topped it with chocolate fudge, caramel and raspberry sauces. It also had whipping cream and toasted almonds. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Yum Yum Yum.

Swimming Lessons

Sarah has been taking swim lessons the last couple of months and it has been fun to see her progress. She LOVES being in the pool and has had a great time learning how to blow bubbles, jump and kick in the pool.

We can't wait for the next session!

First Jazz ... um I mean Warriors Game

It was LDS Family night at the Golden State Warriors so we decided to take our whole family to watch the Utah Jazz play the Warriors. Being a Jazz fan from way back - hence the super cool vintage jacket - I was delighted to see my "old team" school the Warriors.

Sarah liked watching basketball too.

William wasn't quite as into it, but he did eat part of my hot dog. All in all a fun night.

Ahhh the fun of living in the city :)

Presidents Day

Our company left early this morning. It was so fun to have Emily, Madeline, Kymn, Jessica and Erin here. We went super-speed most of the weekend with Sunday ending with a trip to the Oakland temple, dropping Emily and Maddy off at the airport, eating homemade pizzas, venturing out to the Painted Ladies, driving past Japantown, walking around Haight/Ashbury, driving through Golden Gate Park, and ending up at China Beach at sunset. Oh what a weekend.

Now we're getting back to normal. I started by doing 7 loads of laundry. And Rog, Sarah and William decided to make a tower of all the extra pillows and blankets.

Later in the day we finally put up William's letters. Aren't they adorable.

I love how it turned out. Closets make the best rooms.

San Francisco Marathon

Our Saturday started early with the kids waking up the girls sleeping in a row ...

Our first stop was crooked Lombard Street.

Next, we headed to the Palace of Fine Art. Kymn and her friends couldn't believe that it was built for the 1915's World's Fair. Every time I visit, it takes my breath away. Today was especially beautiful with the morning sun hitting the water.

Next up was the Golden Gate Bridge.

Then Fisherman's Wharf with lunch at Boudin's and a visit to Ghirardelli Square.

And a trip on the Hyde/Powell Cable Car to Union Square.

I picked up Emily and Madeline for naps while Kymn, Jessica and Erin stayed in Union Square for some cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory and a visit to Tiffany's. They ended up in China Town.

After a tasty Najavo Taco dinner, we ended the day with a lively rendition from Kymn telling the story of Frog-Belly Rat Bone.

All the girls were on the edge of their seats ...

Em and I couldn't go to sleep quite yet and stayed up until the wee hours of Sunday chatting, making hair pretties and putting together valentines. We definitely had a full day.

A Royal Valentine Party

Sarah's birthday started off a day early. I knew with more company coming later that day that her birthday on Saturday would likely be a side-note. So since Sarah doesn't really have a concept of actual days, I thought, Why not? Sarah LOVED opening her presents and getting ready for her party.

Then it was rush-rush-rush to get things ready for her party. We made it to the church at 10:45 to set up - just 45 minutes behind schedule. We had the kids that were early and on-time play for a few minutes in the nursery rooms next to the room we were using at the church. When all my helpers and I had finished putting away the chairs and setting up tables I told Sarah to have her friends come in for her party.

On perfect cue, she yelled, "Hey Friends! Do you wanna come to my party? OK. Come On!"

We decorated our prince and princess crowns.

We made Valentines.

We played "Pin Cinderella and Prince Charming on the Castle"

Played "Sleeping Beauty" - a game my friend Marisa told me about. All the kids marched around the blankets while the soundtrack to Sleeping Beauty was playing. Then when I paused the cd, the kids all flopped onto the blankets and pretended like they were sleeping. It was super cute.

And ate birthday cake.
